My Personal Nursing Philosophy
"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control..." - Galatians 5:22,23
This verse describes the way that I want to conduct my life and the qualities that I want to be evident in my nursing career. My goal is to make a positive impact in others lives through not only providing physical care but by providing care to the person as a whole. I want to show love and compassion to all of my patients - even those that seem unlovable. I understand that nursing is a tough career but I never want that to affect the care that I provide to my patients. I want to help bring joy, peace, and comfort to people's life even in difficult circumstances. I know that being in the hospital can be the worst day of a patient or patient's families lives and there can be a variety of emotions being experienced, but I want to do what I can to make it an easier experience - even if it is in the little things. I will try my best to be patient and kind with others - letting people know how much I care. I know it is easy to get frustrated with difficult patients and family members; however, I know that a lot of the times they are just concerned so I will attempt to be patient and hear out patients and family members being sure to address their concerns and needs. Also, I am a woman of my word and I want to show that faithfulness to my patients - if I tell them I going to do something for them I will do it. Nursing school and clinical experience is helping me gain the knowledge and skills I need to be a nurse but to me a good nurse has more than that - a good nurse has good character too and that is the kind of nurse I want to be.
